Configuring your player embed
Once you've created your Radio Cult account and gotten your station up and running, one of your first tasks will be to give your fans a way to listen. A great way to do that is with one of our player embeds.
Using a player embed is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get your station's stream out to the world. You can share the links to the directly with your fans or easily incorporate them into your website via copy and paste.
Let's get started.
Accessing the player embeds
- You can access your player embeds via this URL - https://app.radiocult.fm/embeddable/player,
- Or, click on the Embeds link in the top navigation bar to be taken to the same page
Types of player embeds
We support a range of different player embeds. They're functionally all quite similar but with different styles. We provide different embeds so you can choose the one that best matches your current website's design and your ongoing vision for your station.
Some commonly used embeds that you might consider choosing are:
Configuring what is displayed on your player embed
It's important for your player embed to give relevant information to your listeners. There are two different options for what your player embed can display - Metadata or Event data.
Metadata
Setting the Player Display to Metadata changes your player to display the data of the currently playing song. This will be the song name and song artist. Additionally, if the currently playing song has artwork added to it then that artwork will be displayed too.
If you go live and send through metadata updates from your live streaming client then this information will also be shown on your player.
You should choose Metadata if you want your listeners to always see information on the currently playing song.
Event data
Setting the Player Display to Event data changes your player to display the data of the currently playing event / show. This means your embed will display the title of the current event (and not the song).
Additionally, if the current event has any attached Artists with artwork then their artwork will be displayed too.
It's important to note that if there is no event scheduled, we will switch to displaying Metadata.
Adjusting the theme (look and feel) of your player embed
There are a range of different ways you can style each player embed to your liking. In general, the core options most players support are:
- Setting the primary colour,
- The theme of the player,
- Sharp vs round corners
Removing the Radio Cult branding from your player embed
The Radio Cult branding helps more stations find us. However, if you don't want our branding on our website (which is a perfectly valid desire!) then you can remove the branding from any of our embeds that you use. Do note that removing branding is only available on the Professional plan.
Want something extra?
Looking to customise your player embed further? Send us a message and we'll see what we can do.
Building audio players is a lot easier nowadays than it used to be. If you have a specific design you want to see brought to life then you might be better off creating a custom player. You can use your streaming URL and data from our API endpoints to build your custom player. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
