What is geo-protection and how to enable it for your station
In this help article, we'll explain what geo-protection is and how to enable it for your station.
What is geo-protection
Geo-protection allows you to restrict which countries people can listen to your station from. This is helpful for complying with licensing regulations.
How to enable geo-protection
To enable geo-protection for your station, first you must navigate to the Geo-protection settings page.
Navigating to geo-protection settings

To navigate to the Geo-protection settings page:
- Click the Settings (cog) icon in the top right hand corner of the navigation bar, and
- Then click the Geo-protection option under the Broadcast menu, which is contained in the left hand side menu.
Enabling geo-protection
To enable and configure your station's geo-protection, please complete the following steps:

- Click the Enable geo-protection checkbox.
- Then select one of the Allow or block listeners options:
- Allow listeners from designated countries only: This option means only listeners from countries selected in the next step will be allowed access to your station's stream. So if you selected New Zealand in the next step, ONLY listeners from New Zealand would be able to access your station's stream.
- Block listeners from designated countries: This options means only listeners from countries NOT selected in the next step will be allowed access to your station's stream. So if again you selected New Zealand in the next step, listeners from New Zealand would be blocked. But any listener outside of New Zealand would be able to access your station's stream.
- Then search and select all of the countries you want to block or allow access to your station's stream using the Countries dropdown.
- Finally, click the Submit button.
Your station's geo-protection will now be enabled and configured based on the options selected above!
Please note:
One of the options in the Countries dropdown is unknown. Selecting this option means you can explicitly allow or block listeners whose country cannot be determined.
