Managing your media library

In this help article, we’ll show you how to manage your media library in Radio Cult.

The actions we’ll cover are:

  1. Uploading new media,
  2. Editing meda,
  3. Editing media artwork,
  4. Deleting media,
  5. Adding tags to media, and
  6. Adding media to a playlist.

Navigating to Media page

To manage your media library, first you need to navigate to the Media page.

Please complete the following steps:

1. Navigate to https://app.radiocult.fm/.

2. Click Media in the top navigation bar.

You will now be on the Media page.

Uploading new media

To upload new media, please complete the following steps:

1. Click the Upload media in the top navigation bar. The Upload media modal will appear.

2. Either drag and drop the media file into the Upload media modal OR click on Click to upload to open your computer’s file browser, where you’ll be able to select the media file you want to upload.

The media file will begin uploading to Radio Cult. A progress bar within the Upload media modal will display the status of the upload. When the media file has been successfully uploaded, a notification will appear in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.

Please note: this process can be performed from anywhere on the platform!

Editing media

The following metadata properties can be edited for any piece of media stored in your media library:

  • Title,
  • Artist,
  • Album,
  • ISRC (International Standard Recording Code),
  • Music label, and
  • Artwork (covered in the next section).

To edit a piece of media, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the piece of media you want to edit to within the Media table. Either click the Edit (pencil icon) button within the table row the piece of media corresponds to OR click the Actions (…) button (positioned to the right of the aforementioned Edit button) and then click the Edit (pencil icon) button within the Actions menu dropdown. The Update details modal will appear.

2. Identify the metadata property you want to edit and then click the text input it corresponds to. The text input will become editable.

3. Type the updated value into the text input and then click the Confirm (tick icon) button.

4. Click the Close button. The Update details modal will disappear.

The piece of media will now be updated. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to edit other metadata properties for the selected piece of media.

Editing media artwork

A piece of media’s artwork can be removed or edited in the following ways:

  1. Remove a piece of media’s artwork via the Media table, and
  2. Remove or edit a piece of media’s artwork via the Update media modal.

Remove a piece of media’s artwork via the Media table

To remove a piece of media’s artwork via the Media table, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the piece of media you want to remove the artwork from within the Media table. Hover your mouse over the displayed artwork within the table row the piece of media corresponds to. A Remove (trash icon) button will appear. Click the Remove button. A Confirmation modal will appear.

2. Click the Remove artwork button.

The piece of media’s artwork will now be permanently removed.

Edit or remove a piece of media’s artwork via the Update media modal

To edit or remove a piece of media’s artwork via the Update media modal, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the piece of media you want to edit the artwork for within the Media table. Either click the Edit (pencil icon) button within the table row the piece of media corresponds to OR click the Actions (…) button (positioned to the right of the aforementioned Edit button) and then click the Edit (pencil icon) button within the Actions menu dropdown. The Update details modal will appear.

2. Hover your mouse over the displayed artwork within the Update details modal. Two buttons will appear over the artwork.


Editing a piece of media’s artwork

1. If you want to edit the artwork, click the Edit (pencil icon) button, positioned in the top right hand corner of the artwork image. Your computer’s file browser will open, where you’ll be able to select an updated image for the piece of media.

The piece of media’s artwork will now be updated.


Removing a piece of media’s artwork

1. If you want to remove the artwork, click the Remove (trash icon) button, positioned in the top left hand corner of the artwork image. A Confirmation modal will appear.

2. Click the Remove artwork button.

The piece of media’s artwork will now be permanently removed.

Deleting media

There are two different ways to delete media:

  1. Deleting a single piece of media, and
  2. Bulk deleting multiple pieces of media.

Deleting a single piece of media

To delete a single piece of media, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the piece of media you want to delete within the Media table. Click the Actions (…) button within the table row the piece of media corresponds to. The Actions menu dropdown will appear.

2. Click the Delete button within the Actions menu dropdown. A Confirmation modal will appear.

3. Click the Delete media button.

The piece of media will now be permanently deleted.

Bulk deleting multiple pieces of media

To bulk delete multiple pieces of media, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the pieces of media you want to delete within the Media table. For each piece of media, click the checkbox positioned at the very left of the corresponding table row. The Bulk actions menu will appear at the bottom of your screen.

2. Click either the Delete button or the Force delete button. A Confirmation modal will appear.

Delete: the selected piece(s) of media will only be deleted if they are NOT part of any playlist.

Force delete: the selected piece(s) of media will be deleted regardless of whether they are part of any playlist. If the selected media is part of any playlist, they will also be removed from the appropriate playlist(s).

3. Click the Delete media button.

The piece(s) of media will now be permanently deleted.

Adding tags to media

Tags are a great way to efficiently organise your media library in Radio Cult.

For more information on what are tags and how to use them, refer to this help article.

There are two different ways to add tags to media via the Media page:

  1. Adding a tag to a single piece of media, and
  2. Bulk adding a tag to multiple pieces of media.

Adding a tag to a single piece of media

To add a tag to a single piece of media, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the piece of media you want the tag added to within the Media table. Click the Tags cell within the table row the piece of media corresponds to. The Tags dropdown will appear.

2. Identify and click the tag you want added to the piece of media.

The tag will now be added to the piece of media. Repeat step 2 to add multiple tags to the same piece of media.

Bulk adding a tag to multiple pieces of media

To bulk add a tag to multiple pieces of media, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the pieces of media you want the tag added to within the Media table. For each piece of media, click the checkbox positioned at the very left of the corresponding table row. The Bulk actions menu will appear at the bottom of your screen.

2. Click the Add tags button in the Bulk actions menu. The Tags dropdown will appear.

3. Identify and click the tag you want added to the piece(s) of media.

The tag will now be added to the piece(s) of media. Repeat step 3 to add multiple tags to the piece(s) of media.

Adding media to a playlist

There are two ways media can be added to a playlist via the Media page:

  1. Adding a single piece of media to a playlist, and
  2. Bulk adding multiple pieces of media to a playlist.

Adding a single piece of media to a playlist

To add a single piece of media to playlist, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the piece of media you want to add to a playlist within the Media table. Click the Actions (…) button within the table row the piece of media corresponds to. The Actions menu dropdown will appear.

2. Click the Add to playlist button within the Actions menu dropdown. The Playlist select window will appear.

3. Identify the playlist you want to add the piece of media to and click the option that corresponds to it.

The piece of media will now be added to your selected playlist. Repeat step 3 to add the selected piece of media to a different playlist.

Bulk adding multiple pieces of media to a playlist

To bulk add multiple pieces of media to a playlist, please complete the following steps:

1. Identify the pieces of media you want to add to a playlist within the Media table. For each piece of media, click the checkbox positioned at the very left of the corresponding table row. The Bulk actions menu will appear at the bottom of your screen.

2. Click the Add to playlist button. The Playlist select window will appear.

3. Identify the playlist you want to add the piece of media to and click the option that corresponds to it.

The piece(s) of media will now be added to your selected playlist. Repeat step 3 to add the selected piece(s) of media to a different playlist.
