How to schedule a fallback
In this help article, we'll show you how and explain why you might want to schedule custom fallbacks for your live and relay events.
What is a custom fallback?
A custom fallback is an optional playlist that will play if no one connects to a live event or if the relay source fails (e.g. the 3rd party station's stream is down for any reason).
Setting a custom fallback for an event will override your account's global fallback.
What types of events support custom fallbacks?
Custom fallbacks are supported by live and relay type events.
Why should you use custom fallbacks?
Custom fallbacks are useful when you want a specific type of audio to play when no one connects to the live stream or if the relay fails.
For example, you may have a host who performs a dubstep focussed live show every two weeks. If the host doesn't connect then you may want to play one of their previous recorded shows. This is especially true if your global fallback is a playlist containing relaxed, downtempo music. It would be jarring for your listeners to hear relaxed songs when they expect a high-energy dubstep mix.
Scheduling a custom fallback:
- First start creating a live or relay event
- Click on the advanced toggle directly below the media controls

- The Advanced options will expand and you will see a new option for selecting a Fallback
- Click on the Fallback select
- The Playlist Picker will appear
- Choose the playlist that you want as the custom fallback for the event

- Then click the Create event button.
Your new event with a custom fallback will now be created!
