How to live broadcast through VirtualDJ

VirtualDJ is the number one most popular DJ software in the world, with over 100 million downloads. It does require a paid subscription for most uses. Though VirtualDJ functions primarily as mixing software, it does the have the capability to live broadcast through a remote server.

Adding your radio station

To add your radio station to VirtualDJ, first please complete the following steps:

  1. Login to Radio Cult and remain on the Dashboard page,
  2. Then open VirtualDJ,
  3. Click the Settings icon in the right hand corner of the top navigation bar,
  4. In the Settings window, click the Broadcast icon positioned in the left hand side menu,
  5. Then click the Radio Server option from the Select input.

Next please complete the following steps:

  1. Select the IceCast option for the Protocol input,
  2. For each of the below inputs, please enter the displayed value in the Connection details panel on the Radio Cult Dashboard (you can easily copy the value by clicking the Copy button, which is positioned to the right of each displayed value) into its corresponding input in VirtualDJ:
    1. Address (the corresponding VirtualDJ input is Server URL),
    2. Port (the corresponding VirtualDJ input is Server Port),
    3. Mountpoint (the corresponding VirtualDJ input is Mount Address),
    4. Username (the corresponding VirtualDJ input is Login), and
    5. Password.
  3. Then click the Save icon.

You're radio station should now be successfully added to VirtualDJ!

Broadcasting live

To start live broadcasting through VirtualDJ, please complete the following steps:

  1. Access the Settings window again,
  2. Click the Broadcast icon positioned in the left hand side menu, and
  3. Then click the Start Broadcast button.
